Directions: From Nederland, head north on the Peak-to-peak Hwy (72) for just a few miles. Turn west when you see the sign for Caribou Ranch onto CoRd 126. Then make a quick left into Mud Lake OS.
Mud Lake is a small Boulder County Open Space park just north of Nederland that connects to Caribou Ranch Open Space. Due to this connection, you can make longer hikes in the region instead of just sticking to Mud Lakes 2 short loop trails. That being said, the Tungsten Loop which circles Mud Lake is a pleasant hike, or a great snowshoe, all by itself. The trail is easy to follow when it is not covered in snow, when it is covered there will be tracks all over the place and finding the actual trail is difficult. However, you can still make your own way around the lake and have a wonderful time, follow the blue trail marker, if you can... |
