WELCOME TO GO HIKE COLORADO!
Thanks for visiting our site we hope you enjoy it and please let us know if you have any ideas or criticisms to make this site even better.
NAVIGATING THE SITE
The drop down menu at the top of the site provides for the main navigation across the site. The Hikes By Region menu will take you to the different Colorado Regions represented here. The hikes are categorized by mountain range or geographic area. The "Home" page and the "Hikes By Region" page have full interactive maps to help you find the range that you are looking for. For example, if you are looking for a hike near Aspen, the map will show you that you want hikes in either the Elk Mountains or the Sawatch Mountain Range.
Once you are on a region's main page, you'll find another interactive map and thumbnail photos. Clicking on the map icons or the thumbnails will take you to the specific hike's page. Each page has some basic statistics (distance, elevation gain, etc...), an elevation profile, an interactive map showing the route, and a photo gallery. The same structure is set up for Colorado's many iconic National Parks. Each park has a page with an interactive map and thumbnails pointing you to specific hikes in the park.
Also included in the drop down menu is a page called "Hikes By Category." Here, you will find suggestions of hikes that are especially good for a various feature, such as Alpine Lakes, 14ers & 13ers, Fall Colors, or good hikes for kids. If you have any ideas for categories that you would like to see listed, please let us know.
NEWS
I have set up a page to alert you to the latest news events that have impacts on Colorado Hiking. We'll see how well I do in keeping this page updated and I'll try to avoid being too political. However, I may take this as an opportunity to alert you to steps you can take to help protect Colorado's Wilderness and hiking areas.
WEBCAMS
The Webcam page displays links to various webcams that I have found around Colorado. These cams are a great resource if you want to check on the weather conditions in the area that you want to hike in. The page consists of an interactive map as well as a list of links.
Please feel free to contact me and let me know if you would like to see any other features on this site. I'll be updating it as quickly as I can so be sure to check back in and see what's new.
Now, stop reading, put your boots on, and go hike Colorado!
