HIKE DESCRIPTION:
Denver Mountain Parks has been working on the O’Fallon Park trail system for years now and seems to have finally settled on a layout and trail names. The main trail in O’Fallon Park is now called the Winston K. Walker Trail. The Walker Trail forms a lollipop loop but can also be joined with the Bear Creek Trail to explore the perimeter of O’Fallon Park.
This loop starts in the main parking lot and heads up the Walker Trail. The trail begins steeply through the pine and aspen forest. The trail then enters a beautiful meadow as it gently climbs. When you reach the fork in the trail, stay to the right. This section of the trail has some nice views of the Mount Blue Sky massif as it loops around to the next fork in the trail. At this fork, head to the left where the Walker trail and the Bear Creek Trail share a route.
As you hike along the Bear Creek Trail, keep an ear out for incoming mountain bikes. As you head down the trail, take the Bear Creek Cutoff Trail on the left. This trail descends following a gulch to the Stone Chimney Trail. Cross the bridge, and turn left to follow Bear Creek back to the parking lot.
