Hike Description:

Corwina Park’s small trail system is built around Panorama Point but down along Hwy 74, Bear Creek Winds its way across the park and on the far side of the creek, there is a trail that follows the creek for about half a mile. This trail is not really an official trail, at least it’s not on the park’s official maps. However, it is a real trail, and a great short hike when you just need to stretch your legs and walk along some running water or take in some fall colors.

From the small parking area on the south side of Hwy 74 (across from the Old Road Nature Trail Parking Lot) cross the footbridge to a historic stone picnic shelter built in 1918. To the right of the shelter is the trail along Bear Creek. The trail provides access for fishing or to those that want to enjoy the riparian habitat. In the fall, the cottonwoods and colorful underbrush give the trail a warm and cozy glow when the light hits it just right.

After a bit less than half a mile, the trail turns to the left, passes by some ruins of an old fireplace and chimney, and climbs a ridge with some decent views. You’ll be right up against private property on this last section so please be respectful. The trail does not link up to any other trails so it's just an out and back.

This is a short hike but a pleasant one if you only have an hour and want to get a short hike in. If you are looking for a peaceful fishing spot, this might just fit the bill.
