DIRECTIONS:

Welchester Tree Grant Park is located in Lakewood on 8th Ave. From 8th Ave and Simms Street, head west for a few blocks, the park is on the right. There is parking along 8th Ave near the park sign and trailhead.

HIKE DESCRIPTION:

The Welchester Tree Grant Park is the smallest park managed by Jefferson County Open Space. The park preserves a grove of Cottonwoods and Willow trees along a small stretch of Lakewood Gulch and the Welch Ditch. A paved path cuts through the park from north to south and natural surface trails make up a 0.7 mi loop trail. While small, the park packs a big punch in mid-October. It is one of the best places close to Denver for a quick mini-hike to see fall colors.
