Hike Description:

Gateway Natural Area is a wonderfully pleasant park just into Poudre Canyon.  The park is also part of the Cache La Poudre National Heritage Area, Link to NPS Website.,managed by Fort Collins with help from the National Park Service.  Seaman Reservoir is a great trail for kids as it is mostly flat, with one steep section at the end.  Once you cross the bridge follow the signs and the dirt road along the North Fork of the Cache La Poudre River, past some interesting cliffs and rock formations, across an open meadow, and up to the reservoir viewpoint.  The trail skirts the ridge overlooking the reservoir from here but the viewpoint makes for a good destination and turn around spot.
