Hike Description:

Westminster is dotted with small open space parks and Mushroom Ponds is one of the prettiest of these mini parks.  The open space is also connected to the Farmers Highline Canal Trail so you can use this as an access point for longer hikes or bike rides.

Mushroom Ponds Open Space consists of riparian habitat built around Mushroom Pond itself, creeks, and smaller ponds, all surrounded by cottonwoods and tall grass hills.  This area is especially beautiful in the fall when the cottonwoods change colors.  However, the park is prone to flooding so use caution during high water.  There is a main paved trail system, and narrow social trails to access the lesser visited spots.

Mushroom Ponds is a small natural area but should not be overlooked, it’s perfect if you are looking for an easy way to access some nature and get away from suburbia for a few minutes.
