HIke Description:

McKay Lake Open Space is a small park with a multiple use trail that circles the lake.  The trail is a level dirt path making this a great hike for kids or anyone looking for a relaxing stroll in nature.  The trail starts of in a beautiful stand of cottonwood trees, but the rest of hike takes advantage of the wide-open spaces to provide some great views of the Front Range mountains on a clear day.  Along the way, there are plenty of lake access areas for fishing or relaxing. The entire loop is just about a mile and a half so walking around the lake is good exercise but not too taxing. This is also a prime spot for bird watching, if you are into that sort of thing…
